Bio: Andrew Bent is the Director of the Integrated Risk Management Branch of the Edmonton Police Service (EPS) in Alberta, Canada. Mr. Bent has held operational and organizational risk management roles within law enforcement agencies at national and municipal levels. Mr. Bent is responsible for managing the EPS enterprise risk management framework, which requires balancing organizational risk exposures with the practicalities and needs of policing service delivery.

Bio: KARYN BOSTON has been the Associate General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer for YMCA of the USA since 2007. Prior to joining YMCA of the USA, Karyn served as Associate General Counsel in the areas of litigation and regulatory affairs for Sears Holdings Corporation and Sally Beauty Supply. Karyn was also a former prosecutor for the Denton County District Attorney’s Office in Texas. She received her Bachelors of Science Degree from Hampton University and her law degree from Detroit College of Law.

Bio: Mark is Deloitte’s National Enterprise Risk, Governance, and Compliance Leader. In this role, he is responsible for the development and enhancement of Deloitte’s risk management services, including risk management process improvement, tools, leading practices, and training. Mark has more than 17 years of risk management program support and specializes in assisting clients with implementing and improving their risk management programs, including risk assessments, risk appetite, risk scenario and event tree quantification, training, and change management.

Bio: Sandra Carson is Vice President of Enterprise Risk Management and Compliance for the Sysco Corporation, a Fortune 100 company with 45,000 associates and 180 locations. She created Sysco's ERM program and works closely with the executive team and board of directors to make well-informed business decisions about risk. Newly responsible for establishing the enterprise-wide regulatory compliance program, she also leads Sysco's business continuity management, emergency preparedness, crisis management, occupational health, safety, security, and environmental activities.

Bio: Tim Carson has been with IBM for more than 5 years and has worked with the University of California, Office of the President (UCOP) since 2010 to assist in developing the Enterprise Risk Management Information System (ERMIS). The goal of ERMIS is to give decision makers relevant, timely, and actionable information to effectively manage their risks. Prior to joining IBM, Tim spent 2 years as an education consultant in Incline Village, Nevada and prior to that he spent 5.5 years as a congressional legislative aide in Washington D.C. He received his Bachelors of Arts from the University of Oregon.

Bio: Linda Conrad is Director of Strategic Business Risk for Zurich. She leads a global team responsible for delivering tactical solutions to Zurich and to customers on strategic issues such as business resilience, supply chain risk, Enterprise Risk Management (ERM), and Total Risk Profiling. Linda also addresses enterprise resiliency issues in print and television appearances, including CNBC and Fox Business News, and is featured in a Wall Street Journal Microsite. Linda studied at the Graduate Institute of International Studies in Geneva, Switzerland and Fox Business School. She is a deputy member of the ERM Committee of RIMS, and sits on the Supply Chain Risk Leadership Council. Linda holds a Specialist designation in ERM, and serves on the Board of the Institute of Risk Management in London.

Bio: LEONARDO COSTANTINO, MBA, CPCU, ARM-E Leonardo (Leo) Costantino, MBA, CPCU, ARM-E is the Risk Management Inspector General for the County of Los Angeles. He has 25 years of experience in the insurance and risk management field, creating and managing programs for organizations in both private and public sectors, including insurance carriers, educational institutions and in-house risk management operations. He has served on committees and boards of the Risk and Insurance Management Society and CPCU Society Los Angeles chapters. He received his Bachelors Degree from UCLA and his MBA from California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks, CA.

Bio: Donna Epps, partner, Deloitte Financial Advisory Services LLP, is the national leader of the Anti-Fraud Consulting group, and Co-Leader of Deloitte’s Governance, Risk and Compliance practice. Donna has more than 26 years of experience in public accounting and professional services. Her experience includes auditing public and private companies, including responsibility for various regulatory filings with the SEC. She has also led examinations of regulatory compliance at both the state and federal level. In her current role, she focuses on helping companies develop and implement sustainable Enterprise Risk Management programs. With a focus on value protection and creation, these programs incorporate strategic, operational, compliance and financial risk.

Bio: Roy Fox is Chief Human Capital Officer for Bonneville power Administration, a 3,100 employee agency under the Department of Energy. Headquartered in Portland, Oregon. BPA operates an Extensive transmission system and markets electric power from federal dams, a nuclear plant and other Hydroelectric and wind energy generation facilities. Before becoming CHCO, he was BPA’s Enterprise Risk Manager, leading the creation of that new function at the agency in 2003. Previously, he managed BPA’s Federal Hydro Projects, guiding operations, maintenance, and capital investment at 31 hydroelectric plants. He’s also worked in environmental compliance and energy efficiency during his 32 years at BPA

Bio: Joe Ghammashi, CRP, CRISC, Senior Vice President and Chief Risk Officer, joined Corporate One FCU in 2005. As Chief Risk Officer, Mr. Ghammashi is responsible for the continued development and administration of the enterprise wide risk management function. Joe has over 30 years of banking experience both in risk taking capacity as well as risk mitigation and control. He held positions as Director of Strategic Planning, Asset Liability Manager, Balance sheet Manager, and Operational Risk Manager. An ERM national speaker and educator, with a passion for non-profit organizations especially credit unions.

Bio: Bud Hallinan is the General Auditor for LyondellBasell. He is responsible for the implementation of an Enterprise Wide Risk Management (ERM) program for the company. In addition to the ERM implementation, Bud is responsible for the worldwide Internal Audit function. Bud came to LyondellBasell in 2010from Chevron Phillips Chemical Company where he had been the General Auditor since formation of the Company in 2000. During his 33 year career with Chevron Corporation and Chevron Phillips Chemical Company, he has held a number of financial management positions. Bud received a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the University of Philadelphia. He is Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) and he has a Certificate in Risk Management Assurance.

Bio: Laura is Director of Global Risk Management at Juniper Networks, the industry leader in network innovation. She is responsible for Juniper’s Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) program. Prior to Juniper, Laura worked with several Bay Area companies in Treasury, Risk Management and Legal roles including Genentech, and Oracle. She has also worked in the US and abroad in risk management and consulting. Ms. Langone is acting president of Silicon Valley Risk & Insurance Society (SVRIMS) Chapter,. She received her JD from Golden Gate University School of Law and MBA from Thunderbird School of Global Management.

Liebowitz Michael (New York University)

Bio: Michael Liebowitz is the Director of Risk Management and Insurance for New York University. Previously, he was director of risk management, safety and security for Bridgeport Hospital & Healthcare System Inc. in Bridgeport, Connecticut for 17 years. During his tenure at the company, which is the largest employer in Bridgeport, he single-handedly created the risk management department that supported the activities of five companies. Prior to joining, Bridgeport Hospital & Healthcare System Inc., Mr. Liebowitz was an insurance specialist for New York University Medical Center. Mr. Liebowitz graduated from the New York Institute of Technology in 1982. Mr. Liebowitz currently serves on RIMS Board of Directors, where he has served as President (2006-2007), Vice President and Treasurer as well as on the Member and Chapter Services Committee and Audit Committee. In addition, he is an active member of RIMS on the chapter level as well as the national level. He served as the president of the RIMS Fairfield/Westchester Chapter for five years

Bio: Russell McGuire, joined Riskonnect in January 2012 as Director, Enterprise Risk Services. He is a member of the Technology Advisory Council at RIMS. His certifications include ARM, ALCM, FANZIIF, DipBS, CGRCP and FIRM. Russell has evaluated and designed Governance Risk and Compliance (GRC) tools to support Enterprise Risk Management processes for clients in a broad range of industries and locations, having worked on ERM projects in over 25 countries. He developed ERM frameworks and provided consultation to clients on implementing ERM processes. He has held positions at Milliman, Alliance Data Systems, Risk Labs, and Tillinghast-Towers Perrin.

Bio: Nancy Owens joined the YMCA of the USA in 2001. She is the Director of Finance and Controller and is responsible for the Financial Services Department’s operations. She works closely with volunteer staff, particularly those who serve the audit, finance and investment committees. She co-led the implementation of the organization’s Enterprise Risk Management Function. In her role at the YMCA, Nancy works in a consulting capacity, partnering with Y-USA’s service delivery professionals to help define and implement best practices at YMCAs with a particular emphasis on financial audits and IRS form 990 filing requirements. She serves her local Y as a volunteer. Her previous experience includes Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of an event production agency, internal audit director for a 2 billion publicly traded security services firm, and 10 years with an international public accounting firm. Nancy has served as an instructor for the AICPA and has held the position of adjunct faculty at North Park University’s School of Business and Non-Profit Management. She is a Certified Public Accountant and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and an MBA from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale.

Bio: Mary Peter Director of Enterprise Risk Management, Eide Bailly LLP Mary Peter is the Director of Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) for Eide Bailly LLP. She has more than 25 years experience in the risk management and insurance industries, including 10 years in corporate risk management. In her role with the firm, Mary designs and implements client-specific ERM programs to identify, assess, respond to and monitor both risks and opportunities. She develops ERM project methodologies, training materials and deliverables to respond to regulatory requirements and strategic objectives of her clients. Mary is a member of the U.S. Technical Advisory Group for the (International Standards Organization) ISO 31000 Risk Management Standard, released in November of 2009, and the Risk and Insurance Management Society (RIMS). She is co-chair of an ERM Roundtable in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area, and active in developing customized ERM program assessments for many industries. Mary is a frequent speaker and author on ERM and other risk management topics at national, state and local industry conferences. She is the recipient of the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal award as “Women in Business – Industry Leader 2010”, and the Finance and Commerce award for “Top Women in Finance for 2009 “.

Bio: Dan Quandt has responsibility to lead aspects of both the ERM and internal audit functions at Buffalo Wild Wings Grill & Bar, one of the most successful and fast growing restaurant companies of the past decade. As internal audit and risk management disciplines change, Dan has successfully managed within certain traditional expectations of each, yet has more broadly aligned, blended, and developed enterprise risk processes and programs. Mr. Quandt has over 20 years of experience in audit, project management, and information technology within various industries. In his current position, he reports directly to the audit committee of the board of directors as the Director of Internal Audit, and indirectly to the governance committee as part of the ERM function. Dan holds active certifications in accounting (CPA), internal audit (CIA), IT audit (CISA), and risk management (CRMA).

Segal is author of Corporate Value of Enterprise Risk Management, which has been adopted on syllabi of the Society of Actuaries and leading universities. Bio: Brian Thelen joined GM in mid-2011 as General Auditor, subsequently assuming GM’s Chief Risk Officer role. Previously, he was Delphi Corporation’s audit services vice president, where he served on the Delphi Strategy Board. Prior to Delphi, Thelen was vice president of internal audit services at Waste Management Inc., where he established an in-house audit function, helped develop and enhance corporate ethics and compliance programs, and held responsibility for implementation of Delphi’s ERM programs. Thelen, a CPA, holds bachelor degrees in accounting and finance from the University of Notre Dame and an MBA from the Lake Forest Graduate School of Management.
