Bio: Frank is the Sr. Director of Risk Management at Paychex, a leading provider of payroll, human resource, and benefits outsourcing solutions for small- to medium-sized businesses. Fiorille has over 20 years experience in risk management and credit and joined Paychex in 2002 to lead the company’s initiative to build an enterprise wide risk apparatus. He was named as one of the 100 Most Influential People in Finance-Treasury & Risk Magazine in 2008 and 2009. He is credited for leading successful projects to build the first risk and retention models in both the educational lending and payroll outsourcing industries.

Bio: Christina Kite is Senior Vice President, Corporate Group Strategy and Operations, with the Federal Reserve Bank of NY. In this capacity, she is responsible for the development and implementation of the Bank’s and Federal Reserve System’s Financial Management Strategies, particularly those related to transforming data into business intelligence and information insights. She is also responsible for the Vendor Management Office and Procurement, Corporate Real Estate and Business Services and Information Strategy and Analytics. Prior to joining the Bank, Chris was the CFO for Corporate Real Estate at Goldman Sachs where she was responsible for the financial planning, analysis and reporting of real estate and oversight of a $2B annual operating and capital expense budget. In 2007, Chris was identified as one of the top 100 people in Finance according to the Treasury and Risk Management magazine for her work in launching and sustaining Cisco's Enterprise Risk Management program.

Bio: Dr. Nir Kossovsky, CEO of Steel City Re, the reputation insurer, and author, Reputation, Stock Price and You: Why the market rewards some companies and punishes others (Apress, 2012). With a career spanning the worlds of risk, probability, and intangibles, Kossovsky is an authority on business process risk and reputational value. Kossovsky holds more than a dozen patents, including an algorithmic reputational value measurement system currently enabling insurance solutions (patent pending), third-party investment strategies, and governance products. He is the executive secretary of the Intangible Asset Finance Society, a professional organization, for which he edits the Mission:Intangible blog under the nom de plume, Huygens. He served on the boards of Patent & License Exchange and Littlearth, Inc.; was a consultant to the FDA’s medical device advisory panels; and is featured in case studies from Harvard and Darden Schools of Business. Formerly a practicing physician with an MD from the University of Chicago, Kossovsky earned an MBA from University of Southern California and a BA in Philosophy from University of Pittsburgh. Kossovsky was a tenured member of the faculty of the UCLA School of Medicine, Chief of the UCLA Medical Center’s Autopsy Service, and a Deputy Coroner in Los Angeles County. He is a Trustee of Excela Health Systems, a community-based health care provider. He graduated from the US Navy War College and was honorably discharged with the rank of Captain from the US Navy Reserves. He is the author of more than 200 scholarly articles, lay articles, and books.

Prior to Juniper, Laura worked with several Bay Area companies in treasury, risk management and legal roles, including Genentech and Oracle. She has also worked in the U. S. and abroad in risk management and consulting. Laura is active president of Silicon Valley Risk & Insurance Society (SVRIMS) Chapter. She received her JD from Golden Gate University School of Law and MBA from Thunderbird School of Global Management.

Bio: Susan Meltzer is VP, Enterprise Risk Management for Aviva Canada, a property/casualty insurer. Previously she has led the risk management functions at a number of major corporations, including Bell Canada and Sun Life Financial. Susan served as the President of RIMS during in 1999-2000. She is the recipient of the 2001 Don Stuart Award for outstanding achievement in risk management and the 2005 Goodell Award, bestowed by RIMS for lifetime achievement. Susan taught the CRM program at the University of Toronto and has been a Spencer “Risk Manager in Residence” at a number of major North American universities.

Bio: John R. Phelps, CPCU, ARM, CBCP President and Director John R. Phelps is the director of Business Risk Solutions at Florida Blue, Florida’s Blue Cross and Blue Shield plan. In that capacity, he is responsible for the continued development and management of a comprehensive Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) program for Florida Blue, a health care company with nearly 4 million members, and gross revenues of almost $8 billion. Phelps is a leading practitioner of ERM and has responsibility for the development and oversight of ERM processes to support strategic and business planning. His responsibilities include business continuity management, which he has successfully integrated into a comprehensive risk management model. He is responsible for emergency response leadership for the company and has managed preparations and response for scores of hurricanes, hundreds of other tropical weather events, a multi-million dollar fire, asbestos response and flooding events. He was an early advocate for the development of Enterprise and Strategic Risk Management as areas of focus within RIMS. He was instrumental in the development of the RIMS Maturity Model for ERM, “ERM for Dummies” book (Wiley Publishing) and the “Enterprise Wide Risk Management” educational program administered by The Institutes™ (American Institute for CPCU). Phelps has been at Florida Blue for 23 years. Prior to that, he spent three years as the risk manager for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of the Rochester, New York area and spent several years as principal for a mid-sized property/casualty insurance agency in Rochester New York. Phelps has served on the Board of Directors for the Society since 2003. He has served on several committees including past chair of the Enterprise Risk Management Development Committee from 2004 until 2007. He served as chair of the Governance Committee in 2003 and recently led the Governance Task Force to deal with membership classification requirements. Phelps has served as an officer for the Society for 4 years and Board liaison to several committees including Member and Chapter Services, External Affairs and Conference Committee. He is a member of the North Florida Chapter of RIMS where he has served as president in 1999 Phelps is a graduate of Rochester Institute of Technology, School of Business and holds the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) and the Associate in Risk Management (ARM) designations. He is a licensed Healthcare Risk Manager in the State of Florida.

Bio: Dr. Paul Walker is the James J. Schiro / Zurich Chair in Enterprise Risk Management at the Manhattan campus of St. John’s University. He leads the Center for Excellence in ERM at St. John’s School of Risk Management. Dr. Walker co-developed one of the first courses on Enterprise Risk Management (ERM), has trained boards and executives on risk management, and has conducted workshops for black swans and unknown risks. His ERM research includes companies such as Wal-Mart, Microsoft, DuPont, Intuit, and others. He is a recognized academic leader on risk management. He has written extensively on risk and ERM including the books Improving Board Risk Oversight through Best Practices, Making Enterprise Risk Management Pay Off and Enterprise Risk Management: Pulling it All Together. He has also coauthored several articles on ERM including: Is your Board Ready for ERM, The Strategic Advantage of ERM, Managing Risk: An Enterprise-Wide Approach, A Road Map to ERM, and ERM and the Strategy-Risk Focused Organization. Dr. Walker served as a visiting fellow at the London School of Economics Centre for the Analysis of Risk. Additionally, Dr. Walker was selected as a 2011 Deloitte CFO scholar.
